The Weaving is a membership community. We collect only the information we need to welcome members, maintain the member space, manage subscriptions, and communicate with the people who choose to be here. We do not sell personal data. We do not use advertising trackers or sell what we learn about you. We do use a simple analytics tool — Google Analytics — on the public pages of this site to understand how people find us and which pages they read. The member area is not tracked. Details and how to opt out are below.

Who we are

The Weaving is an online membership community. If you have questions about this policy or want to contact us about your information, email us at hello@theweaving.community.

What we collect

Depending on how you interact with the site, we may collect:

• Your name and email address
• Membership application information you choose to submit
• Account and login information
• Profile information you choose to add in the member area, such as display name, pronouns, photo, location, bio, archetype, and community-related responses
• Subscription and billing-related information needed to manage your membership
• Messages or inquiries you send to us
• Basic technical information needed to run the site securely, such as login and session data
• Aggregate, non-identifying information about visits to the public pages — page viewed, approximate location (country / region), device type, and how you arrived at the site (search engine, social link, etc.). This is collected by Google Analytics and described further below.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Review membership applications
• Create and manage member accounts
• Provide access to the member area and community resources
• Display member profiles inside the members-only space
• Manage subscriptions and membership status
• Send important account, membership, and service emails
• Respond to questions and support requests
• Maintain the safety, security, and functioning of the site

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not run advertising trackers, behavioral profiling, retargeting pixels, or third-party marketing tools. The only analytics tool we use is Google Analytics, on public pages only, described in the next section.

Analytics on public pages

We use Google Analytics 4 on the publicly available pages of theweaving.community (the homepage, application page, ground rules, and this privacy policy). It is not installed on the member area, admin pages, or any logged-in space.

What it tells us, in aggregate:

• How many people visit each page
• Where visitors come from (e.g., a Substack link, a Google search, social media)
• Roughly where in the world they're reading from (country and region — not street address)
• What kind of device they're using
• How long they stay and which pages they read together

What it does not tell us: who you are individually, what you typed, what you do outside our site, or anything tied to your name or email.

Google Analytics uses small cookies in your browser to do this. If you'd prefer not to be counted, you can install the official Google Analytics Opt-out browser add-on, use a browser that blocks third-party scripts, or use a private/incognito window. None of these affect your ability to use the site.

Cookies and login storage

We may use essential browser storage, session tools, or similar technical means to keep the member area working, support login, and remember a login when a member chooses that option. These are used for site functionality, not for advertising. (For the analytics cookies set on public pages, see the section above.)

How long we keep information

As a general rule, we keep member information for as long as a person remains an active member.

If a membership ends, we may keep limited information when needed for administrative, legal, billing, security, or backup purposes. If you want your information deleted, contact us and we will review the request.

Who we share information with

We may share information only with the service providers needed to operate The Weaving, such as website, database, authentication, forms, email, and payment tools. We may also disclose information if required by law or if needed to protect the safety, rights, or integrity of the community.

Your choices

You may contact us at any time to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Request corrections to your information
• Request deletion of your information, where applicable
• Ask questions about how your information is used

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, but no website or online system can promise absolute security. If we become aware of a serious security issue affecting your information, we will respond as appropriate.

Children's privacy

The Weaving is intended for adults and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date above.
